About Me

Hi, I'm Abby!

I grew up on a small farm in Southwest Washington. As a kid, I milked goats, ran with the dog, teased the cats, and learned to knit, sew, bake, and play piano and violin.

I also grew up reading the scriptures and hearing the Father's call to relationship with Himself. Our bathroom literature always included prayer letters from workers around the world. So as a child I could see what the Father was doing overseas and why it was important.

After high school I attended Prairie College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies.

I've now been an overseas worker on Clove Island since 2013. It's a really great opportunity, and I'm thrilled to be part of the Father's work there. This year I moved to Volcano Island, where I serve together with my husband, Mitch.

A few more random things about me:
-- I love black coffee. But you can also catch me drinking a white chocolate mocha with lots of extra espresso shots.
-- I'm a bit of a ham. My English students would testify to that.
-- I love cooking and baking. Great stress relievers, both.
-- I still love music and enjoy jamming with friends. I enjoy listening to pop music in languages I don't know.
-- I'm a bit of a bookworm. Love British authors, crime novels, and thoughtful non-fiction. Tim Keller, Dorothy Sayers, and Robert Service represent my reading taste pretty well.
-- I love outdoor activities, especially if they involve water or peaceful places.
-- I can drive stick, make a pot roast in a tea kettle, tell a great joke, pull a good prank, and bench press... oh wait, I avoid bragging about that bit.  =)
-- Oh, and I love Jesus. A lot.

So basically, I'm an adventurous introvert. And I'm in Africa, using who I am for His work.
